About: A leisure space was created in a 5 day workshop with
local children and youth in Beižionys. A 4x4 m terrace
raised from the ground was created and built, embracing
an 8-trunk Linden tree; swings were hung, and three
benches were installed around the fire pit. The chosen
location near the children´s day centre had challenges:
large eight-trunk linden roots, clay soil, and a steep
slope, so the team set an additional goal—to install a
raised wooden structure without touching the tree. TAW
is an architecture education project for children and
youth that has been implemented since 2013.
